One of the favorite trucks of our last Granada Hills Food Truck Fest, don't miss the Asian marinated chicken and the died-and-gone-to heaven Truffle Fries.

Crepen Around
This long-term Granada Hills favorite has crepes, yes, but also killer garlic fries.

 Mandoline Grill
offering fresh, crisp vegan and carnivore-friendly bánh mì sandwiches, and of course, her mother’s famous bún thịt nướng noodle bowls.
Papas Tapas
Spanish favorites like paella alongside some of the loveliest Spanish sliders this side of Madrid. 		Me So Hungry:
the city’s best marinated short rib slider, tuna sandwich, or sweet potato fries. Expect the unexpected.
Jack Daniels
is just one of many possible drinks you can order at VFW's fine full-service bar.

 Munchie Machine
Try ‘The Scooby Snack’, a PB&J with smores in the middle, that won the Sweet Tooth Award at the L.A. Street Food Fest.
Wings World
Wings and sliders. Dieters beware, especially of offerings like the LOL (lots of lard) Burger with 4 strips of applewood smoked bacon.

 No Tomatoes
Indian Street food including kathi rolls, chapli burgers, biryani, mango lassi, and an ever-changing “Just generally” daily special.
Smokin' Willie's BBQ
Try a BBQ sandwich, slider, or taco, with the boss sauce.
 Great Balls On Tires
The Great Balls truck had the most devoted followers of any truck at the last GH Fest, and the reason why: Incrediballs. They live up to their fun-to-say name.

    Sounds great! Loved the last one, and will crawl through fire to get another orange-scented pork carnitas taco with creme fraiche and blackberry salsa from Komodo.
    Are the Osaka squid dumpling guys coming back? Those were also pretty righteous.

    But... um, where is it, exactly?

Starlet Visits Granada Hills!

I typically don't do much reporting on crime stories unless something about them cracks me up (e.g. this one ), but I was excited to learn from The Associated Press that the "Starlet Bandit" just hit one of our local banks. Oooh, I love starlets -- especially when they visit Granada Hills! Judging by her surveillance camera snaps, I can see why this starlet traded casting calls for a life of crime; even full-figured gals have to pay the rent, and Hollywood is a tough town when you're not a size 0. Fortunately, on this side of the hill, she blends right in, and unlike L.A., Granada Hills is having a distinct starlet shortage, so I say, come on over! I only wish we had a local branch of Goldman Sachs she could heist.

Thoughts on Joe's Cafe and cancel culture

On June 1, 2020, the date when people planned to gather in Granada Hills to protest George Floyd's killing, fearful rumors began flying early. The protest was certain to be violent. The claims that it was planned as a "peaceful" protest was certain to be cover for looters. Some started spreading the rumor that "the organizers have cancelled the event," presumably with the hope of making that come true.  I spent that afternoon trying to debunk the myths that seemed designed to suppress the event from happening. Myth debunking has, at times during 2020, seemed like a full-time job for me, starting with my pointless and overmatched efforts to argue with "the pandemic is a liberal hoax" theorists.
