HomeGoods and Petco Coming to Zelzah & Chatsworth Shopping Center

Image
In addition to Sprouts Farmers Market, Regency Center also plans to add a HomeGoods and PETCO at its Zelzah and Chatsworth location, according to an article at GlobeSt.com . Of course we all know PETCO as the go-to place when you need to disguise your cat as a Rastafarian ("No sir, Mr. Landlord, I don't have any pets, that's just Mister Nice Guy, my Jamaican cousin"). HomeGoods, however, may be less familiar. The blog Racked.com describes it thus: If you've never been to Home Goods, it's like a gigantic jumble-sale (emphasis on the jumble). Organization and visual merchandising? Shmorganization and shmisual shmerchandising! Everything's everywhere! It's kind of like going into a stranger's attic, if that stranger were a hoarder. One HuffPo blogger says, "I have literally seen women almost fighting in the aisles over merchandise." I can hardly wait.

First Friday Truck Fest Tonight At A Sweet Design

Image
Tonight, A Sweet Design will once again host a multi-truck dinnertime event, including Papas Tapas, Munchie Machine, Grill 'em All, and the long-awaited Grilled Cheese Truck, among others. Across the street at Menchies, GH favorites Smokin' Willie's BBQ truck will be serving up both vegan and meaty fare. To avoid the conflicts with nearby business owners her last event suffered, Joeleen of Sweet Design has requested that trucks park off Chatsworth, on Yarmouth Street. Unconfirmed reports indicate that nearby business owners called LAPD on last Wednesday's gathering of trucks, but LAPD didn't show. So it seems unlikely that Granada Hills will see a repeat of last month's shutdown. Sweet Design is located at the corner of Chatsworth and Yarmouth. Event begins at 7pm.

New Food Truck Monday's At Oh Grady's

Image
The food truck invasion is moving east on Chatsworth Street. Tonight, and every Monday night, Oh Gradys Bar, 17633 Chatsworth St. (between White Oak and Shoshone) is hosting a late-night food truck gathering, starting at 10pm. Tonight's trucks will be Maria's Italian, Fresh & Meaty, Dumpling Station, MeetnPotatoes, and Slap Yo Mama. Oh Grady's chose to schedule the gathering during late-night hours to avoid conflicts with local restaurants, especially nearby Frosty Queen, which closes its doors at ten. Early birds can still get their food truck fix at Sweet Design cupcake shop, which is hosting Mandoline Grill at 5:30pm. On this cold night, patrons will be welcome to bring their food into Oh Grady's and eat indoors, but liquor laws forbid bringing in outside beverages. But if you're thirsty, of course, Oh Grady's can probably help you out.

SNOW PWNED! "Once In A Generation Storm" Fails To Materialize

Image
Promised blizzard, snow ponies nowhere in sight; area children, sled vendors crushed Atop a hill in Petit Park, a forlorn group of children stood in the dust at the crest of a dry dirt slope. Each child clutched a plastic disc sled, and each was wearing an adorable knitted cap with little matching mittens. "When is the snow coming, Miss Havisham?" they pleaded, a shred of hope remaining in their small voices. "I'm sorry children, but it looks like there just isn't going to be any," their guardian says, a quaver in her voice. "Let's go home." Defeated, the children drag their sleds back to the broken-down bus that will return them back to their home at Granada Hills Leukemia Care Orphanage. Their planned day of hot chocolate, sledding, and snow angels canceled, the children will instead spend the duration of the weekend receiving rounds of chemotherapy and a series of painful injections. Meanwhile, in nearby Burbank, near the intersection o...
