The Granada Hills Holiday Parade, 2010 Style

Image
I've always wanted the GH Parade to have a little more Doo Dah and little less rah-rah, and this year, it edged ever so slightly in the right direction. Lights Go On Tonight!

Image
After finally untangling a nest of bureaucratic and procedural hurdles, the lights on the Granada Hills Christmas tree are finally being installed today, and -- "God willing," said a hopeful Gene Behrns, architect of the site -- they'll be flicked on tonight, just a day later than had been hoped. A crew that included a death-defying tree climber perched 500 feet in the air is currently working to get the 2,000 brand new lights strung on the tree at Veteran's Triangle on the corner of Chatsworth and Zelzah, and if all goes according to plan, the lights will be a-twinkle by nightfall.
