HomeGoods and Petco Coming to Zelzah & Chatsworth Shopping Center

In addition to Sprouts Farmers Market, Regency Center also plans to add a HomeGoods and PETCO at its Zelzah and Chatsworth location, according to an article at GlobeSt.com.

Of course we all know PETCO as the go-to place when you need to disguise your cat as a Rastafarian ("No sir, Mr. Landlord, I don't have any pets, that's just Mister Nice Guy, my Jamaican cousin").

HomeGoods, however, may be less familiar. The blog Racked.com describes it thus:

If you've never been to Home Goods, it's like a gigantic jumble-sale (emphasis on the jumble). Organization and visual merchandising? Shmorganization and shmisual shmerchandising! Everything's everywhere! It's kind of like going into a stranger's attic, if that stranger were a hoarder.

One HuffPo blogger says, "I have literally seen women almost fighting in the aisles over merchandise."

I can hardly wait.

  1. Wow. Nothing sounds more fun than the attic of a hoarder. I swear - when Regency met with the public to tell us about Sprouts and ask for "input", everybody in Granada Hills was on the same page. We need restaurants and fun.

They're giving us another pet store because the one across the street or the one at SF Mission and Balboa aren't enough and another junk store.

    Yippee...

  2. Looking forward to Sprouts. Petco and Homegoods, not so much. I'm glad anybody is coming to this center, I just hope it will attract others to follow suit. We need a good restaurant to fill up the Baker's Square location. Maybe just demo it and let food trucks park there!

  3. Yes! Rent the parking lot to the food trucks!

  5. We have a great pet store right across the street, Pet People, and another next to the Pavilion at Balboa. Do we really need another pet store? And Homegoods sounds like a disaster. Ah well leave it to Regency to screw up a good thing.

  6. Im just thankful that our shopping centers will no longer be wastelands. Now we need a new tenant where Hows was. C'mon Fresh'n Easy.

  7. Actually, HomeGoods is owned by the same people who own TJ Maxx, and I'll be glad not to have to trudge out to Valencia or West Hills to shop at one. I've discovered quite a few well-priced treasures in my various forays through their stores, and it is normally no more disorganized or "unmerchandised" than TJ Maxx. C'mon folks, what do you want for nice products at half (or less) of retail?

  8. I can hardly for Sprouts to open up. It would be great to not have to drive out to Valencia. As for Petco, I am excited.

  10. I love that there are plans of revamping this area.. long overdue. I don't think very many people know about HomeGoods, so it's only natural for them to dislike what they do not know. But I am confident everyone will be very pleasantly surprised.. Go Granada Hills!!

  11. I am pleased that the shopping center will be filling up again. Home Goods is a great store and much more organized than TJ Maxx. I think TJ Maxx needs to hire new management and clean up the store. It always looks dirty. We need a nice restaurant in Granada Hills to take over the Bakers Square space.

  14. So happy that the shopping center is getting a face lift and some new stores. Love Homegoods. TJMAXX needs to clean up it's act. The store always looks dirty and the merchandise is old. I never see the items in the store that they show in TV ads, etc. We also need another family restaurant.

  15. No way does HomeGoods look like a stranger's attic! It's an awesome store with unique items (better than Target) for your home. I, for one, cannot wait for it to open. But, I agree, we need a good restaurant in that mall somewhere, anywhere!

  16. I have been waiting patiently for Homegoods to open. I love the store. It sure is taking a very long time. Does anyone know when it will open? I love Sprouts...and yes I agree......we definitely need some restaurants in Granada Hills and Northridge. All we have are fast food stuff and chains. We need a very good coffee shop. I was so upset when Hamburger Hamlet left. How many times can I go to Brent's or the Chinese Restaurant? lol.

Cant wait for homegoods to open, i have heard that they have some nice decorative items, I happen to like sprouts some items i get at Trader Joes and Whole Foods I can find at Sprouts. They have organic lean beef, lots of flavered coffee and other specialty items. Another Petco i could live without. A new restaurant would be nice or a little cafe,
