Superbowl Party!

Image
This is the video I found on the Nibble Bit Tabby Brewery Website. This Sunday, February 6, watch the big game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers at L.A. Pizza Co., where you can sample beers from downtown Los Angeles' own Nibble Bit Tabby Brewery and cheeses from Sierra Cheese. What's a Nibble Bit Tabby? Their page explains that the downtown brewery "is a craft brewery specializing in the manufacture of high quality European style ales...N.B.T Brewery uses imported English barleys and malts, which meet higher British standards and gives the beer the more refined characteristics of English beers." In addition to the tastings, L.A. Pizza will do giveaway drawings for T-shirts, food, and a Superbowl XLV football. L.A. Pizza Co. is located at 12654 Devonshire St., Granada Hills Discount coupons here !

Food Truck Party Tonight! Food Truck Party Tonight!

Image
I can scarcely believe that just 12 short months ago, I was wondering whether ANY food trucks would ever come to Granada Hills, and now, we're soaking in 'em. After a brief hiatus, the lovely Smokin' Willie's BBQ Truck will be back in action tonight in front of Menchies. Not enough for you? There's also gonna be a Food Truck Party at A Sweet Design cupcake shop from 7-10pm, with Papas Tapas, TastyMeat, Maria's Truck, Fresh & Meaty, and of course The Munchie Machine!!! If you're a vegan or a veggie, don't be put off by all of the suspiciously meatcentric names of our visiting trucks. Smokin' Willie's is famous for its vegan options, and most other trucks have meat-free options as well. Sweet Design is located at 17805 Chatsworth St (at the corner of Yarmouth) Menchie's is located at the southeast corner of Chatsworth and Zelzah. Old people will realize that the title of this post contains an homage to a song from Repo Man .

Take Off Your Freakin' Jammies And Put On Some Freakin' Clothes.

Image
It's perfectly acceptable to wear your jammies in public. If you are two years old. You, however, are sitting in front of computer and reading a blog, which means you are not two years old. You may be reading this in the comfort of your home. Are you wearing jammies? I certainly don't mind if you are. Inside your house. Or in your bed. Or at a slumber party. Or in a convalescent hospital. It's when you're wearing them at Target, or at Starbucks, or at a gala presidential dinner that a line has been crossed. I have standards, and I will impart them to you now, and you will fall into line, thus sparing yourself the shame and humiliation of being seen in public in your jammies, which will be compounded when I snap your photograph and put it on this blog. I'm sorry to have to resort to threats, my friends, but when I see four people out in public in their jammies in the space of six days, then that is what it has come to. Granada Hills, it is time to wake up, ...

Ave Maria

Image
Maria used to be in Northridge, at Tampa and Rinaldi. Then she moved to Devonshire and Reseda. Then she moved to Granada Hills. And I have followed her each time, like a dog at her heels. That's because Maria understands me, and she understands my hair. I'd like to think that my psychic waves of need drew her closer and closer to Granada Hills, but I know I'm not the only person who can't bear to imagine a world without her. Just a few weeks ago, a woman came up to me at the gym and said, "I love your hair -- who cuts it for you?" "Maria Milanes," I said, and a third woman who'd overheard us exclaimed, "Maria does my hair too!" "Wow!" I said. And then, the three of us just stood together silently, in a moment of quiet reverence. "Did you just get your hair cut?" a friend of mine asked at a party. "Um, four months ago," I answered. "This is that same haircut!?" she replied in awe. ...
