This Blog Post Is About How My Blog Is In A Blog About Blogs

For all those who can't get enough of me , and I know that that means me, so that's at least one person: me — visit Outside.in , which is a blog about blogs, and read what that blog says about this blog. The article is under "Bloggers We Love," which means they love me, and I love me too, so that's two, including me, too. I'm going to go there and read it again and again. Again. Malkovitch?

Where Will The Rite Aid Go?

Image
At an open house last week, Regency Centers unveiled plans for a reshuffled Granada Village Shopping Center, which will include a new Sprouts supermarket and relocating Rite Aid to the center's northeast corner, along Zelzah Street just north of Chatsworth. Cheerful artist's renderings of the Village's reopening on display at the event depicted the now-lifeless east end of the shopping center reimagined as a bright and bustling destination during a future in which everyone will drive either a tan AMC Gremlin or a grey Hyundai Excel. Old-timey Granada Hillsians may remember the incipient Rite Aid location as the former home of the Granada Brunswick Lanes and the place where David Lula had his 6th birthday party and I spilled my root beer all over the table. More recently, the site was home to a Ralph's supermarket that was consistently humiliated by its flashier and more popular big sister across the street, and most contentiously, the site of an abrogated Kohl's ...

Assemblymember Risks Arrest For Obstructing Sidewalk Traffic

Image
Give him a piece of your mind! On Wednesday, September 22 and Saturday September 25, Assemblymember Bob Blumenfield (D – San Fernando Valley) will host Sidewalk Office Hours to discuss state and legislative issues. So what sort of issues can you talk to the Assemblymember about? I asked his Senior Field Rep John Popoch, who said: We typically address any state issue, however, we're always checking into city and federal concerns, too, for constituents. We don't turn away anyone. If we don't have the info or they're not calling the appropriate office, then we may refer them to their City Councilmember, Member of Congress or U.S. Senator. We try to resolve their issues with the appropriate state agency, i.e. DMV, Cal Trans, Cal EPA, state licensing and certifications, Dept.of Consumer Affairs, franchise tax issues, Attorney General's office, UEI. This just the tip and a broad overview, but the main goal is to get people to contact their elected representative an...

Quit cherry picking! That's the basic message of this story about the human tendency to disregard scientific consensus that doesn't gel with one's personal views. Climate change is real, vaccines are not an elaborate conspiracy, and Bigfoot doesn't exist. Deal with it. NEW HAVEN, Conn., Sept. 18 (UPI) -- U.S. adults disagree on "scientific consensus" because they distrust experts who differ in their cultural view, researchers suggest. Yale University law Professor Dan Kahan, University of Oklahoma political science Professor Hank Jenkins-Smith and George Washington University law Professor Donald Braman say members of the public are sharply and persistently divided on matters such as climate change in which expert scientists largely agree. "The problem isn't that one side 'believes' science and another side 'distrusts' it," Kahan says in a statement. Subjects were much more likely to see a scientist with elite credentia...
