Assemblymember Risks Arrest For Obstructing Sidewalk Traffic

Give him a piece of your mind!

On Wednesday, September 22 and Saturday September 25, Assemblymember Bob Blumenfield (D – San Fernando Valley) will host Sidewalk Office Hours to discuss state and legislative issues.

So what sort of issues can you talk to the Assemblymember about? I asked his Senior Field Rep John Popoch, who said:

We typically address any state issue, however, we're always checking into city and federal concerns, too, for constituents. We don't turn away anyone. If we don't have the info or they're not calling the appropriate office, then we may refer them to their City Councilmember, Member of Congress or U.S. Senator.
We try to resolve their issues with the appropriate state agency, i.e. DMV, Cal Trans, Cal EPA, state licensing and certifications, Dept.of Consumer Affairs, franchise tax issues, Attorney General's office, UEI. This just the tip and a broad overview, but the main goal is to get people to contact their elected representative and know what he can do for them. It's good for them to use their elected representative for assistance or point them in the right direction. I wish more people called. We're hoping to alleviate their reluctance to deal with the government because we want it to be more transparent and serve them when they need assistance on any matter.
It's also a good opportunity for them to meet Assemblymember Blumenfield so they meet him personally and ask a question or voice their opinion on anything. Bob is a down-to-earth person who is very approachable and likes to hear from the constituents on anything including legislative ideas. He's not locked behind closed doors in Sacramento. He wants ideas to come out of the district, so this is also an opportunity to find out what's going on with a bill and what the legislative process is and how a resident can get involved in the process.
